I know what it’s going to be called…
but I don’t know if I want to say yet…
I was thinking today… what’s going to make people want to look at a magazine? They can just look at photographs online. And besides the whole, everything looks different on print reason, I realized that the content will be such that people will want to keep looking back on the photographs and art. I see hundreds of photographs every single day and and still remember some that I looked at years ago for a second and haven’t seen since. Hopefully, this magazine will be something that you can set aside from your everyday gallery and from the fashion photo shoots in teen magazines. I guess I started on the premise that I want to make an impact on the way people think by what kinds of things I’m showing them, because what people are seeing can affect them in a big way.
Well… I wanted to write about how this has changed my perspective on photography personally, because I hope to blog about my intentions for the magazines and my discoveries from along the way. I’ve taken in this timeless factor that should have been very obvious since learning about it in Journalism last year, but I hadn’t connected it to art in my mind, and now I know what I want to start creating. I hope to take what I now see is important in my magazine to my own work. I need to brainstorm a list of the things that probably make something important, memorable, or special, it is probably different for everyone, but there are things that I think touch all of us. The title for the magazine that I came up with spurred my thoughts on these ideas, so hopefully I can make sense of it all and write a note for issue 1 which is probably when you’ll know what it’s called. I think I’ll ask a friend to help me with the writing, this all may just be a bunch of words. I kind of don’t see that as a major problem for me though, since pictures are what makes more sense to me most of the time…
Okay… so I’ll probably write every time I have some sort of breakthrough. I’m really excited about this… tons of ideas. That’s all I’ll write for now.
